Parque Tenente Siqueira Campos - Trianon

Caio Pimenta/ SPTuris

First opened on April 3rd, 1892 and designed by French landscape designer Paul Villon and Englishman Barry Parker, Parque Trianon is located in the heart of São Paulo. It decorates Avenida Paulista with 48,600 m² of tropical vegetation, reminiscent of the Atlantic Forest.

Its oficial name is Parque Tenente Siqueira Ramos, in tribute to the Brazilian military man and politician who took part in the Tenentista Revolt (1924), one of the largest armed conflicts in São Paulo history.

It features a flora brimming with exotic species, such as chichá, cabreúva, jussara palm trees, Chinese fan palm, cedar, jequitibá, and is home to wild animals such as the burnished-buff tanager, rufous-collared sparrow, eastern slaty thrushes, butterflies and more than twenty-five other species of birds.

Open daily, the park offers playgrounds, open-air exercise equipment and nature trails (600 meters in length with eleven rest stops, which connects Avenida Paulista to Alameda Santos). It also features two beautiful sculptures: “Fauno” by Victor Brecheret and “Aretusa” by Francisco Leopoldo Silva.

The name Trianon, as it is popularly known, was named after the old Trianon Club from the mid-1950s, where Masp is located today (Art Museum of São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand).

In addition to being located in front of the largest art museum in the country, the park has easy access: only a few meters from the Trianon-Masp 2-Verde subway line, with five bus routes that stop at the entrance. On Sundays and holidays, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, it becomes one of the highlights of the Centro-Paulista bicycle tours.

Tranquility and outdoor fun are just some of the attractions at Trianon Park. Photo: Municipal Department of Ecology and the Environment / advertisement.
