Built on the site of the old Carandiru Penitentiary, popularly known as Carandiru, the Youth Park was opened in 2003 and is one of the most frequented places in the northern part of the capital. It is a sporting, cultural and recreational complex of 240 thousand square meters.
Frequented mainly by skateboarders, the park also offers an extensive cultural agenda, getting gigs and festivals with local artists of diverse styles and rhythms and various thematic events such as religious gatherings, art shows, theatrical and circus performances, among others.
