September 22nd is the commemorative date of the Tiete River. On this date in 1999, it opened the Tietê Museum, which tells the story of one of the major rivers of the city, through Amerindian culture of the region objects, documents and photos from various collections.
Located in the Tiete Ecological Park, the museum is a great opportunity to know the history of the river and its banks. The site has been visited by over 500,000 people and was revitalized in 2004 by architect Ruy Ohtake.
