The building of the new headquarters of the MAC was established in 1950 by Oscar Niemeyer. Today, renovated, houses part of the museum ‘s collection matrix and is also stage exhibitions, courses, lectures, among others.
Created in 1963, the museum is formed by the collections of the couple Yolanda Penteado and Ciccillo Matarazzo, and the prizes of the Biennial of São Paulo, until 1961.
In its collection are works by Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Alexander Calder, Tarsila do Amaral, Anita Malfatti, Lygia Clark, and a collection of Italian art of the early twentieth century.
