Since its founding in 1970, the Museum of Image and Sound ( MIS ) collects, registers and preserves the sounds and most representative images of Brazilian art and culture. Its collection consists of works of cinema, videos, photos and music with historical documentation, whether artistic legacy or oral tradition.

From the beginning the proposal was to highlight the formality of other museums to approach the public content. Another great advantage is to go beyond function to document and display the past, bringing focus to the art of the present, in order to glimpse the future in the making.
