The Largo São Bento is one of the oldest public spaces of St. Paul, who was born in 1598 in the same place where stood a small chapel. In 1660, Largo had expanded around the chapel and the Catholic Church requested the construction of a monastery.

This stately and busy square in the city center has a promenade for walking, benches, gardens and a fountain that was designed by French architect Fourchon in 1864. In the center of Largo there is the Monastery of São Bento, which attracts many visitors through the history and curiosities.
