Third largest wholesale market in the world and first in Latin America, the Society of warehouses and General Warehouses of São Paulo (Ceagesp) or Ceasa, emerged in 1969 as a result of a merger between two companies in the São Paulo government.
The company, which today is visited by tourists from around the world looking for quality products, supplies much of the country with regard to flowers, fruits, plants, fish, vegetables, moving 250,000 tons of these products per month.
In the retail sector the site also stands out mainly because of “Varejao”, a sort of flea market held three times a week (on Saturdays, Sundays and Wednesdays) that publicly available products at low prices and ready typical food of São Paulo fairs, as pastel, sugarcane juice, skewers, corn, cake, among many others.
Apart from Varejao, another major tourist attraction of the place is the Fair of Flowers, the largest event of its kind in the country, which brings together more than a thousand farmers who bring customers the most diverse types of plants. There, in the same place, a space for accessories and crafts.
