Founded in October 1878, the neighborhood of Bixiga – one of the most traditional in São Paulo – has a large historical and cultural significance to the state capital.
Located in downtown, the neighborhood was made up of Italian immigrants newcomers to Brazil and its residents still celebrate their origins, hence the main reason for its fame.
It is very diverse and this is due to the fact that it is one of the most bohemian neighborhoods and at the same time, most religious of the capital. Its Italian cantinas, fairs and anything that involves its most traditional side, make it one of the most iconic neighborhoods.
