Horto Florestal - Alberto Löfgren State Park

Important leisure and culture place, the Parque Estadual Alberto Loefgren, known as Horto, located in the north of São Paulo, occupies an area of 1.74 million m². Located next to the Parque Estadual da Cantareira, the Garden has a stage for events, picnic area, playground, jogging track, fitness equipment, drinking water fountains, lakes and the Forest Museum.

Among the park’s landscape, there are exotic species such as eucalyptus, marsh-pine and cryptomeria and native species, such as Brazil-wood, national oak, ironwood and courbaril. It is possible to see also several animal species, such as the monkey-nail, toucan, possum, socó, heron, rufous-collared sparrow, Brazilian squirrel and kingfisher. Another curiosity is that, the pines planted in 1896, when the park was founded, still be seen in the so-called Albert Löefgren Arboretum.

The site also houses the Octavio Vecchi Museum, also called the Madeira Museum (the Wood Museum), inaugurated in 1931 and the landmark of the Tropic of Capricorn, which passes through the park.
